Our software had started out as one thing and then, beaten over the years by the irrepressible forces of business necessity, it had been bent and twisted and jemmied to fit a different set of requirements, until it could be bent no more. A full system-wide upgrade, a rewrite from scratch, had become unavoidable. This is the story of how we came to choose Perl + DBIx::Class + Catalyst as our system platform. |
